BY- LAWS

 

of the

 

SOUTH CENTRAL DISTRICT FIREMEN'S BURIAL ASSOCIATION

 

 

ARTICLE 1

 

 

NAME

        

        

This Organization Shall be known as the South Central District

Firemen's Burial Association.

        

 

        

ARTICLE 2

        

        

OBJECTIVES

                 

Section I

        

        

The objectives of the Association shall be:

        

1.  To develop a closer association among the District.

        

2.  To aid in Burial expenses.

        

3.  To aid and encourage the development of Fire Fighting.

        

        

ARTICLE 3

        

        

MEMBERSHIP

        

Section 1

        

 

The membership of this organization shall consist of persons of good character belonging to and a regular member that is in good standing with one of the Fire Departments of the South Central District Firemen's Association, which shall be in accordance with the By-Laws of this organization.

 

 

Section 2

        

An appointed Fire Marshall that functions separately from a City Fire Department is eligible for membership and shall be classified as a member-at-large.

        

 

 

ARTICLE 4

 

ADDMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1

        

Active members shall be admitted to this organization in the following manner.

        

        1. That he is a Fireman or a Fire Marshal in good standing with a Fire Department of this District.

        2. That the Fire Chief of his Department recommends this person.

        3. That any Fireman being notified that this organization is being organized and refuses to join and then later wants to be admitted, shall have to wait the period of 90 days before being admitted.  The Chief of the Department or whom he appoints, shall collect all donations and forward them to the Secretary of the Association.

        4. After June 19, 1961, new members of District Fire Departments are eligible for membership, after the usual probationary period of his Department, but not less than ninety days.

        5. Any Fireman having joined this organization shall be a member for a period of thirty(30)days before becoming eligible for any benefits of said organization.  Date of enrollment will be date that application is received by the secretary of the Burial Association.

        6. Any Fireman killed by accident, with accident having happened after enrollment, shall be eligible for all benefits of the organization.

 

Section 2

 

1.  Any application for members in this association shall be recommended and presented by someone holding membership in the Association and shall be accompanied by $5.00 dues.

 

2.  New applications for membership in this Association shall include full name, date of birth and Social Security Number.

 

 

Article 5

                                                   

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1

 

1.     Any member shall be permitted to resign at any time by notification of his chief.

2.     Any member being two months delinquent in his donation will be dropped from this Association.

3.     To redeem his membership, he will have to wait one year before he will be reinstated.

 

Section 2

 

1.     Any member whose membership in this organization has been terminated, for any reason whatsoever, shall forfeit all rights to burial donation until he has been properly reinstated.

 

Article 6

 

Officers

 

Section 1

 

1.     The Officers of this organization shall be the Officers that are serving in the South Central District Association. Distribution of funds will be handled by the active President and Secretary of the South Central Firemen’s Association.

2.     The President of the Association shall appoint the Secretary-Treasurer of the South Central District Firemen’s Burial Association.

 

3.     The President shall be the presiding officer at all meetings.

4.     The Secretary and Treasurer will keep and maintain all records of membership and will record all funds collected or disbursed.

 

 

Article 7

 

Revenue

 

Section 1

 

1.     All members will have an initiation fee of Five Dollars ($5.00) to be paid to the Chief of his Department, which will be forwarded to the Secretary-Treasurer, to be deposited in the bank for the disbursement, in case of the death of a member of this organization.  The Secretary, upon notification of a fireman’s death, shall pay to the beneficiary, the equivalent of One Dollar ($1.00) from each member of this organization. In the occurrence of a death in the South Central District Burial Association, One Dollar ($1.00) will be collected from each active member of this organization.  The collection of these funds will be in the hands of the Chief of each department. This being a non-profit organization and no allowance made for office expenditures, it is recommended that the Chief arrange for a check covering all Burial Association members, be mailed to the Secretary or designated assistant, when officially notified of a death.

2.     In case of death of a member of this association, the Fire Chief is to notify the Burial Association’s Secretary with Article 4, Section 2 of the By-Laws of this Association.
